The Department of Family Sciences at Afro-Asian University is dedicated to the holistic study of family dynamics, human development, and societal relationships. With a focus on interdisciplinary learning and research, our department aims to prepare students for careers in various family-related professions and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to address contemporary challenges faced by individuals and families.

Understanding Family Dynamics: Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of family systems, including the structure, function, and dynamics of diverse family units.
Human Development Knowledge: Students will acquire knowledge of human development across the lifespan, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Interpersonal Skills: Students will develop effective communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills necessary for working with individuals and families in diverse contexts.
Cultural Competence: Students will demonstrate cultural competence by recognizing and respecting diverse family structures, values, and traditions, and understanding how culture influences family dynamics and relationships.

Family Therapist/Counselor: Graduates can work as family therapists or counselors, providing counseling and support to individuals, couples, and families facing relationship issues, life transitions, or mental health challenges.
Social Worker: Graduates can pursue careers as social workers, working with individuals and families to access resources, navigate social services, and address issues such as poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and child welfare.
Marriage and Family Therapist: Graduates can become licensed marriage and family therapists, specializing in providing therapy to couples and families to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships.
Human Services Specialist: Graduates can work as human services specialists, coordinating services and programs to support individuals and families in areas such as child welfare, aging services, disability support, and family advocacy.
Child Life Specialist: Graduates can become child life specialists, working in hospitals, pediatric clinics, or nonprofit organizations to support children and families facing medical challenges, providing emotional support, play therapy, and educational resources.
Family Educator: Graduates can work as family educators, designing and delivering educational programs and workshops on topics such as parenting skills, family communication, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.
